Over a year of planning. Countless volunteer hours. Amazing support from the Massachusetts Poetry Outreach Project, Young Chicago Authors and the 80 Proof Poetry Club at Massachusetts Institute of Technology!

Announcing the inaugural LTAB Massachusetts Youth Poetry Slam Festival!!!

16 Youth Teams have signed up to participate in this FIRST statewide youth poetry slam festival! Newburyport to Dorchester. North Brookfield to Lowell. Worcester to Peabody! Close to 100 Bay State Teens are preparing poems, getting amped to “Cross the Street” & share their crafted stories over the course of this historic three day tournament.

Saturday, March 31st – Preliminaries. Stratton Student Center at MIT, Mass Ave. Cambridge. Doors at 10:30am. Morning bouts at 11am. Afternoon bouts begin at 2pm. Over the course of this day, all 16 teams will compete in two preliminary slam bouts, happening in 4 different venues! That’s over 160 poems, brought with passion & intensity from the generation of brilliant voices! Some of New England’s best performance poets will be hosting and coordinating these match-ups. The top 8 ranked teams will be invited to compete in Semi-Finals.

Sunday, April 1st – Semi – Finals. MIT Stata Center Lecture Rm 32-123. 11am-4:30pm. The top 8 ranked teams will face off in two separate semi final matchups. The intensity gets amplified, as the top 2 teams from each matchup win an invitation to compete for the first Mass LTAB Championships!

Friday, April 13th – Finals Showcase. Villa Victoria Center for the Arts in 85 West Newton St, Boston. The top four youth poetry slams will face off for the first LTAB Championship! Special Guest Performances and a true celeration of the power of youth poetry! Hosted by Mass LEAP! Finals tickets can now be purchased on-line here.

Volunteer – there are lots of ways you can help us make this festival everything it can be!

Donate – We’re still in need of some financial support. Every dollar you donate will help us facilitate this festival, reward volunteers and create an amazing atmosphere for our youth.

Attend! Pass on the word, especially to young people and educators who care about exciting opportunities for young people to find themselves through creative writing and performance. The youth poetry slam community is truly a sight to see. Young people sharing their stories, connecting and listening to each other is one of the most inspiring spectacles that one can witness. Mass LEAP & Mass Poetry are so proud to be fostering this movement in Massachusetts.
